ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.
Board of Corrections
William S. “Bill” Jackson, 72, Appling , GA , At Large Member - Jackson is the founder and president of Tile Center, Inc. He spent sixteen years as a member of the Georgia General Assembly and four years as the chairman of the Columbia County Board of Education. Jackson is a past president of the Martinez-Evans Jaycees and past national director of the U.S. Jaycees. He is a veteran of the Georgia National Guard, past president of the Martinez Merchants Association, a member of the Homebuilders Association and the Columbia County Historical Association. Jackson attended Augusta Vocational School . He has two children and four grandchildren.
Georgia Agrirama Development Authority
Paul F. English, 67, Montrose , GA , At Large Member (RE AP POINTMENT) - English has been a self-employed farmer for over 45 years and is the farm manager at both Holmes Farm & Timber and BFP Ag 3. He is the supervisor of the Central Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District, a member and past president of the Georgia Peanut Producers Association, and a member of the Pine Country Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. He is a member of the board of directors of the Citizens Bank of Cochran, a former chairman of the Bleckley County Hospital Authority and a former member of the Bleckley County Board of Education. English earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia . He and his wife, Ann, have four children and seven grandchildren.
Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel
Kris L. Sperry, M.D., 50, Sharpsburg , GA , Forensic Pathologist Representative (RE AP POINTMENT) - Sperry is the chief medical examiner for the State of Georgia with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Division of Forensic Sciences. He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service, Indian Health Service Branch. Sperry is a fellow with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the College of American Pathologists . He is also a member of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, the American Association for Protecting Children and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. Sperry earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Kansas State College of Pittsburg and a doctorate of medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He is married to J. Blair Sperry and has four children from a previous marriage.
Georgia Council for the Arts
Jesse C. Stone, 49, Waynesboro , GA , Twelfth Congressional District Representative - Stone is the mayor of Waynesboro , Georgia and is an attorney and managing partner with Merrill & Stone, LLC. He is the past chairman of the Agriculture Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, vice chairman of the East Georgia College Foundation, a member of Rotary International, a member of the Waynesboro Downtown Development Authority and a member of the Burke County Board of Health. Stone earned a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration as well as a law degree from the University of Georgia . He and his wife, Amanda, have three children.

Margaret D. Evans, 72, Sylvania , GA , City Manager/Mayor Representative - Evans is the mayor of Sylvania , Georgia where she is serving her second four-year term. As mayor, she oversaw the $1.4 million downtown revitalization project. Prior to serving as mayor, Evans served on the city council and held various positions with financial institutions, including the Bank of Screven County and the Farmers & Merchants Bank. She is a member of the Sylvania Rotary Club and the Sylvania Downtown Development Board and is a former member of the Screven County Hospital Board, the Screven County Chamber of Commerce Board and the Sylvania/Screven County Recreation Commission. Evans attended Georgia Southern University. She is married to Osal Evans.
Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority
Dwight S. Wood, 53, Oakwood , GA , Superior Court Clerk Representative - Wood serves as the elected clerk of the Superior and State Courts in Hall County . He served as the deputy clerk for more than ten years. He was the recipient of the County Officer of the Year Award in 2001 and the Clerk of the Year Award in 2000. He is the past chairman of the Superior Court Clerks Training Council, past president of the County Officers ' Association of Georgia, past president of the Superior Court Clerks' Association of Georgia and member of the National Association for Court Management. Wood attended Gainesville College . He has three grown children.
