Tuesday, November 20, 2007  Contact: Office of Communications 404-651-7774

ATLANTA — Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Kevin Clark, currently the Executive Director of the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority, has been tapped to serve as interim state property officer and will lead the Georgia Building Authority and State Properties Commission.  This position opened when Dr. Gena Abraham was appointed commissioner of the Georgia Department of Transportation.

“Kevin Clark brings the experience and cost-effective mindset necessary to this position, and he will deliver the best value to Georgia’s citizens as he manages the state’s buildings and grounds,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.   “Kevin will be building on Gena’s legacy of efficiency and attention to detail, and he will be a vital part of our efforts to make Georgia the best-managed state in the nation.”

Governor Perdue is recommending to the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority (LLIDA) that Bill Donohue be appointed executive director of LLIDA to succeed Mr. Clark effective January 1, 2008.  Donohue is currently the executive director of the Jekyll Island State Park Authority.

“In his new role at the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority, Georgia will continue to benefit from Bill Donohue’s wealth of expertise at managing our state’s parks and recreational sites,” said Governor Perdue.

In addition, Mr. Donohue will also provide administrative support to the Board of the North Georgia Mountains Authority (NGMA) under a contract between the NGMA and LLIDA.   Both authority boards are assigned to the Department of Natural Resources for administrative purposes.

Prior to his appointment as executive director of LLIDA, Mr. Clark served as deputy director of GSFIC.

Mr. Donohue is uniquely qualified to fill these two positions given his former experience serving on the LLIDA board and formerly serving as executive director of NGMA.  He was also instrumental in the planning and construction of Brasstown Valley Resort, and the early concept development and planning for the Retreat at Lake Blackshear, the two main facilities overseen and operated by the NGMA.

The Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority is expected to vote on Governor Perdue’s recommended appointment at its regularly scheduled meeting on November 29.
