Pepsi Distributors, Wild Adventures Theme Park Partner to Promote Anti-Litter Campaign
VALDOSTA, Ga. – Governor Sonny Perdue announced a new partnership today that will further promote Georgia’s anti-litter campaign. The new partnership will include Pepsi distributors across the state and Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta. Pepsi’s entire fleet of delivery trucks in Georgia will display anti-litter messages featuring the State’s anti-litter mascot (Buster the Brown Trasher), information on Governor Perdue’s “Litter. It Costs You.” initiative, and Wild Adventures Theme Park and Pepsi logos.
“This is about economic development. Litter is a nuisance. It costs us millions to clean up, drives down our property values, and destroys our natural resources,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “I hope this partnership between Pepsi and Wild Adventures will encourage Georgians of all ages to take responsibility for their community and tackle this issue. Working together, we can all achieve our goals to create cleaner, healthier and more livable communities.”
Georgia’s statewide anti-litter campaign “Litter. It Costs You.” is an innovative and coordinated attack on litter that encompasses a three-pronged approach: education, enforcement and eradication. The campaign includes state agencies, city and county governments, businesses and volunteer organizations to engage the public and effect change to eliminate litter. Pepsi and Wild Adventures officials targeted their message displays to support and promote Governor Perdue’s initiative to prevent and clean up litter. “The beverage industry has a proven track record of environmental stewardship and we are committed to helping keep Georgia beautiful,” said Kevin Perry, executive director of the Georgia Beverage Association.
In addition to the Pepsi truck displays, Wild Adventures plans to wrap trash cans located throughout the park with Georgia’s anti-litter message and mascot. The park also has plans to integrate the state’s anti-litter and recycling initiatives in to their educational curriculum offered to school groups visiting the Park. “We look forward to working with Governor Perdue and Pepsi to support and promote Georgia’s “Litter. It Costs You.” initiative,” said Jimmy Holmes, vice president of Wild Adventures.
The state of Georgia launched the “Litter. It Costs You.” campaign in August 2006. For more information, visit litteritcostsyou.org.
