Governor Perdue Appoints Laura Loftis as Director of Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Laura Loftis as Director of Executive Appointments. Loftis replaces Leigh Ann Gillis, who will join Perdue for a New Georgia as Finance Director, effective Wednesday, December 15, 2004.
Loftis has served as the Executive Appointments liaison for Governor Perdue since February 2003. A brief bio follows:
Loftis came to the Governor’s office after serving as campaign manager for Congressman Charlie Norwood of Augusta. She also served as director of the 2002 Norwood Fundraising Committee and Georgia’s Best political action committee. Loftis is a native of Augusta, Georgia. She attended Agnes Scott College before transferring to the University of Georgia, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She is an alumna member of Delta Zeta Sorority and the University of Georgia Alumni Association, as well as Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor fraternities. Loftis is a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta.
