Governor Perdue Announces Judicial Appointments

ATLANTA, GA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Beverly M. Collins to the State Court of Cobb County (Division I), Maria B. Golick to the State Court of Cobb County (Division II) to fill Beverly Collins' vacated position, and Seay V. Poulakos to the State Court of Coweta County.             

Brief biographies are provided below: 

Beverly M. Collins, 59, Marietta, GA, State Court of Cobb County, Division I – Collins serves on the State Court of Cobb County, Division II.  She is a member of the Marietta Metro Rotary Club and the Advisory Board of the Cobb Justice Foundation.  Collins is also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia Society.  She earned her law degree from Georgia State University and her undergraduate degree in English from Kennesaw State University.  She and her husband, Pat, have three daughters, two step-daughters, and six grandchildren. 

Maria B. Golick, 40, Smyrna, GA, State Court of Cobb County, Division II – Golick practices law as a sole practitioner in Marietta, Georgia.  She is a member of the Cobb County Bar Association, the Marietta Kiwanis Club, and the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Northwest Georgia.  Golick received her law degree and an undergraduate degree in marketing from Georgia State University.  She and her husband, Rich, have two children.       

Seay V. Poulakos, 37, Newnan, GA, State Court of Coweta County – Poulakos is the Chief Assistant Solicitor General for Coweta County.   She is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Newnan Bar Association, and the Newnan Rotary Club.  She also serves as the Georgia High School Mock Trial Coach for East Coweta High School.  Poulakos received her law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and her undergraduate degree in international business from Auburn University.  She and her husband, James, have one child.
