ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:
Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission
Thomas John Martin, 59, Lawrenceville, GA, Seventh District Representative- Martin is Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Gwinnett Community Bank in Duluth, Georgia. He is past President of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia and former Director of the Georgia Banker Association. Martin is Charter President of the Duluth Rotary Club and past Chairman of the United Way Fund Raising Campaign. He is the current Chairman of the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau and is a member of both the Gwinnett Council for Quality Growth and Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful. Martin is a founding member of the Duluth Merchants Association. He attended Dekalb College and Georgia State University and is a graduate of the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University and the American Institute of Banking. He and his wife, Barbara, have two children.
Erosion and Sediment Control Overview Council
Glenn William Durrence, 42, Glennville, GA, Department of Transportation Representative (REAPPOINTMENT)- Durrence is Director of Construction at the Georgia Department of Transportation. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia Florida and South Carolina and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Glenn has been employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation since 1980, previously holding the positions of Area Engineer, District Construction Engineer, Assistant District Engineer, and District Engineer. He earned his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Sandra, have two children.
Shaun Michael Green, 30, Atlanta, GA, Georgia Regional Transportation Authority Representative- Green is a Transportation Engineer at the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority. He is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the Urban Land Institute. Green is President of the Home Park Community Improvement Association and serves as an Advisory Board Member on the Midtown Alliance. He is a founding member of the Northwest Community Alliance and serves as a Steering Committee member of the Berkeley Park Neighborhood Association. Green received his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Janet, have two children.
James R. Hamilton, 51, Duluth, GA, Environmental Engineer Representative (REAPPOINTMENT)- Hamilton is the President and owner of Southern Civil Engineers, Inc. He specializes in roadway design, water resources, erosion control, riparian management, and land development. Hamilton was named Engineer of the Year in 2001 by the American Council of Engineering Companies. He is a member of the Chattahoochee Riverkeepers, the Erosion & Sedimentation Overview Council of Georgia, and the Nancy Creek Technical Advisory Committee. Hamilton is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Jamie, have two children.
Janet Pauline Sammons, 44, Powder Springs, GA, Environmental Protection Division Representative- Sammons is a Program Manager at the Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division. She received her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses
Mary Lynn Bellville, 37, Social Circle, GA, Licensed Practical Nurse Representative- Bellville is an Administrative Licensed Practical Nurse at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was previously a manager at Mews Retirement Center. Bellville received her L.P.N. degree from the Nursing Program at Athens Technical College. She has one son named Johnathon.
State Board of Podiatry Examiners
William Barry Turner, 51, Royston, GA, Podiatrist Representative- Turner is owner of Turner Podiatry, LLP and Global Wound Care, LLC . He is a member of the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the American Academy of Wound Management. Turner is a licensed podiatric physician and is licensed in advance cardiac life support. He received his undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University. Turner and his wife, Robin, have two children.
