Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Community Affairs

Willie Adams, Jr., M.D., FACOG , 64, Albany, GA, At Large Representative- Adams is the Mayor of the City of Albany, Georgia.  He is a partner in Adams & Woods, M.D., PC, a private partnership obstetrics and gynecology practice.   Adams is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, serves on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Georgia Health System Agency and is a member of the American Medical Association.  He served as Vice Chairman of the Dougherty County Board of Education and serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.  Adams received his undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University and his M.D. from Meharry Medical College .  He and his wife, Constance, have four children and four grandchildren.

Hotel/Motel Tax Review Performance Board

Janice Webb Marshall, 65, Macon, GA, At Large Representative- Marshall is President and CEO of the Macon-Bibb County Convention and Visitors Bureau.  She is past President of both the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus and Georgia 's Historic Heartland Travel Association, and is a founding member of the Georgia Antebellum Trail Association and Georgia 's Antiques Trail.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association, and the Historic Heartland Travel Association.  Marshall is a recipient of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association Tourism Industry Leader of the Year award.  She has three children and four grandchildren. 

Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority

Dorothy M. "Dot" Burns, 69, Gainesville, GA, At Large Representative- Burns is a member of the Hall County Chamber of Commerce and the Hall County Election Board.  She is also a sustaining member of the Gainesville Junior League.  Burns and her husband, James, have four children. 

State Board of Registration of Used Car Dealers and Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers

Steve Tillman Sumner, 50, Cumming , GA , Insurance Industry Representative- Sumner is Vice President of the Southern Zone for State Farm Insurance Companies.  He joined State Farm in 1978, later serving as Agency Manager and then Agency Director.  Sumner serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Gridiron Society of the University of Georgia.  He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Valdosta State College.  Sumner and his wife, Gretchen, have one child.
