Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Community Affairs

Constance "Connie" Tate Perry, 60, Nashville , GA , At Large - Perry is Mayor of the City of Nashville .  She serves on the Georgia Rural Water Legislative Committee and the Berrien County Public Health Board.  Perry also serves on the Oxford College Board of Counselors.  She previously served on the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute Board and was involved in the creation of the Better Hometown Program.  Perry graduated from Emory University .  She and her husband, William, have four children and eight grandchildren. 

Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority

Robert Foster Rhodes , 59, Perry , GA , At Large (REAPPOINTMENT) - Rhodes has worked at Walker-Rhodes Tractor Company for over 30 years.  He previously worked for the University of Georgia Co-op Extension Service.  Rhodes received his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Georgia.  He and his wife, Martha Ann, have three children.

Georgia Board of Dentistry

Dr. Emma Rebecca Bays Carlon, 51, Albany , GA , Southwest District - Carlon has owned a private general dentistry practice for over 25 years.  She was previously the Supervising Dentist of the Department of Dental Hygiene at Darton College and an Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry, at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.  Carlon is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Southwest Georgia Dental Association.  She received her D.D.S. degree from Emory University School of Dentistry and a Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2000.  She and her husband, Daniel, have two children.

State Board for the Certification of Librarians

Marsha Lynn Christy, 52, Perry , GA , Librarian Representative - Christy is currently Assistant Director of the Houston County Library System.  She was previously Head Librarian at Nola Brantley Memorial Library and at Centerville Public Library.  Christy previously served on the Houston Drug Action Council Board of Directors and the Houston County Library Board.  She received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan College and her master's degree in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University .  Christy and her husband, John, have two children. 

Susan Sellers Whittle, 56, Attapulgus, GA, Public Librarian Representative,  (REAPPOINTMENT) - Whittle is the Executive Director of the Southwest Georgia Regional Library.  She previously worked in the Office of the Executive Director of the Northwest Florida Water Management District.  Whittle served on numerous committees for the American Library Association, and she has served on the Education Committee for the Bainbridge Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.  She received her advanced master's degree in Library and Information Science from Florida State University .  She is married to Kenneth. 

Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses

Judy F. Boone Hilliard, 46, Rhine , GA , Licensed Practical Nurse Representative - Hilliard specializes as a Treatment Nurse at McRae Manor Nursing Home.  She previously worked as a nurse in the Wilcox and Telfair Prison Systems.  She is a past member of the Georgia Nursing Home Association.  Hilliard graduated from Ben Hill-Irwin Technical College .  She and her husband, Billy Ray, have two children.

LeAnn S. Tuggle, 40, Perry , GA , Consumer Representative - Tuggle is currently self-employed.  She previously worked as a Media Specialist at Warner Robins Middle School and as a teacher at Perry Middle School and Fort Valley Middle School .  Tuggle is a former member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators and the Georgia Library Media Association.  She received her undergraduate degree from Georgia College and her master's degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia State University .  She and her husband, Rob, have two children.

State Board of Dispensing Opticians

David Francis Meldrum, 63, Roswell , GA , Dispensing Optician Representative - Meldrum is President and owner of Dunwoody Opticians, Inc.  He is the immediate past President of the National Academy of Opticianry.  He also served as Director of the American Board of Opticianry and Contact Lens Examiners.  Meldrum was President of the Dunwoody Kiwanis Club and previously served on the State Board of Dispensing Opticians.  He graduated from the University of Michigan as a certified optician.  He and his wife, Jean, have five children and 14 grandchildren.

State Board of Physical Therapy

Lola Sicard Rosenbaum, 51, Warner Robins , GA , Physical Therapist Representative - Rosenbaum is certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as a clinical specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.  She currently works as a physical therapist at the Cantrell Center for Physical Therapy and at the Houston Medical Center .  She recently received the Geriatrics Section Excellence in Research Award.  Rosenbaum received her undergraduate degree from the Medical College of Georgia and her master's degree from the University of Florida .  She and her husband, Donald, have two children.

National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders, Inc.

Jennie Glasgow, Atlanta , GA, Georgia Representative (REAPPOINTMENT) - Glasgow is the President and owner of Jenco Enterprises, a public relations and consulting firm.  She worked for highway traffic safety as a volunteer for over 30 years, and she is a Certified Addiction Counselor.  Glasgow received the "World Traffic Safety Award" in 2000.  She was previously the President of the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders.  Glasgow received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada.  She has two children.
