Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

 

Georgia Ports Authority

Steve Green, 56, Savannah, GA, At Large Representative- Green is the President and CEO of Stephen Green Properties, a commercial real estate investment and development corporation.  He is the founding organizer of the First Chatham Bank and the First Bank of Brunswick.  Green previously served as Chief of Staff for Congressman Lindsay Thomas and was President and Vice President of Green Distributors, a Frito-Lay distributor for southeast Georgia.  He is the Chairman of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and the President of the Educational Properties Foundation Board.  Green has served as the Sponsorship Chair of the American Heart Association Board of Directors and is a member of the Armstrong Atlantic State University Foundation Board of Trustees.  Green attended Armstrong Atlantic State University and is a graduate of the University of Georgia.

Sunny Park , 61, Sandy Springs , GA , At Large Representative- Park is CEO of General Building Maintenance, Global Sun Investments, and founder of the Good Neighboring Campaign.  A native of South Korea, he is the Commissioner and Chairman of the Education Committee of the Presidential Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.  Park is a member of the Board of Visitors for Berry College and serves on the Board of Governors of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.  He is past Chairman of the Overseas Korean Convention, founded The Korean-American School of Atlanta, and dedicated the Georgia Korean War Veterans Memorial.  Park is a recipient of the 2002 USO Patriot Award and is the 2004 Laureate of the Georgia Business Hall of Fame.  He attended Indiana University and Northwestern University.  Park and his wife, Kay, have two children.

 

Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority

Ester Fleming, Jr., 55, Oxford, GA, County Government Representative- Fleming is a member of the Newton County Board of Commissioners, and works for the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Code and Compliance Section of the Planning and Development Department.  He is involved with real estate and is a former area manager for the Munford Corporation.  Fleming attended the Coverdell Leadership Institute.  He is a member of the Association of County Commissioners and the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement.  Fleming is a member of the Covington Lions Club and the Covington Elks Club.  He holds a political science degree from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctor from Woodrow Wilson College of Law.  Fleming and his wife, Delia, have three children.

 

Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority

Jeanie Thomas, 63, Atlanta, GA, At Large Representative- Thomas was previously a policy advisor to Governor Sonny Perdue regarding natural resources and transportation.  In this capacity she developed policy options to meet transportation needs in Metro Atlanta and Georgia.  Thomas is a Senior Research Associate for the Fiscal Research Program at Georgia State University.  Prior to this, she served as the Senior Research Manager for the Governor's Development Council.  For eighteen years, Thomas was the Deputy Director of the Georgia Senate Research Office.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University and a master's degree from Georgia State University.  She and her husband, Bill, have three children.

 

Board of Governors of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority

Elliott Caudell, 58, Toccoa, GA, At Large Representative- Caudell is owner of Caudell Realty Company.  Prior to this, he was Vice President of Atlanta Federal Savings and Loan.  Caudell has served on the Stephens County Hospital Authority for the past twenty-six years and is a former Commissioner for the City of Toccoa.  He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in real estate.  He and his wife, Reba, have three children.

 

Board of Commissioners of the Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund

E. Culver "Rusty" Kidd, 58, Milledgeville, GA, Spinal Advocate Representative- Kidd is the President and owner of Middle Georgia Management Services and the President and founder of Kidd & Associates, which acts as a liaison between businesses, state and local government entities.  He is also the President and founder of Quick Loans & Insurance Company, and Vice President and founder of Employee Benefit Insurance Company.  Kidd is past President and Chairman of the Georgia Special Olympics Organization.  He is a member of the Georgia Industrial Loan Association Board of Directors, and past Board member of Habitat for Humanity.  Kidd is an Associate Lecturer at both Emory University and Georgia State University, serves on the Shepherd Spinal Center Advisory Board, and is on the Childkind Board.  He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee.  Kidd has two children.

 

Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board

Birdel Jackson, III, 59, Alpharetta, GA, At Large Representative- Jackson is the President and CEO of B&E Jackson and Associates.  He is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies and the Georgia Minority Consulting Engineers Association.  Jackson is also member of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He is on the Georgia Tech Civil and Environmental Advisory Board, a member of the Black Pilots of America and 100 Black Men of Atlanta.  Jackson earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Toledo and a master's in civil engineering from Georgia Tech.  He and his wife, Edith, have one daughter.

 

State Board of Accountancy

E. J. Maddocks, 61, Augusta, GA, Certified Public Accountant Representative- Maddocks is partner in Serotta Maddocks Evans & Company.  He is the head of estate planning and human resources and specializes in taxation.  Maddocks is former President and Vice President of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He is a past member of the Governing Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, past President of the Augusta State University Alumni Association, and has served as Trustee for several school foundations.  Maddocks is a graduate of Augusta State University, holding a degree in accounting.  He and his wife, Carolyn, have two children.

Grace Lopez Williams, 39, Duluth , GA , Certified Public Accountant Representative- Williams is the owner of Grace Williams and Associates.  She is the President of the Atlanta Chapter of National Society of Hispanics MBA and in 2000 was named one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States.  Williams has served the Governor's Workforce Investment Board since 1999 and has been named Business Woman of the Year and one of the most powerful women among female business owners.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Georgia Society of Public Accountants, and the Georgia Hispanics Chamber of Commerce.  Williams is also affiliated with the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council.  She is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and holds a master's in business administration form Loyola University.  She has one son.

 

State Board of Cosmetology

Betty Carlisle, 68, Macon, GA, Consumer Member- Carlisle is retired after twenty five years with Holmes Auto Parts, where she was Corporate Secretary and co-owner with her husband.  She is the current President of the Exchangettes Club of Macon.  In her spare time, Carlisle enjoys golf, gardening, and exercise.  She and her husband, Harold, have one daughter.
