Governor Perdue Accepts Resignation of Jenkins County Sheriff

ATLANTA , GA - Governor Sonny Perdue today accepted the resignation of Jenkins County Sheriff James R. Womack. Womack submitted his resignation to the Governor and it is effective at midnight , July 15, 2004 . The Probate Court Judge of Jenkins County will appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of Womack's term, which expires December 31, 2004 . Womack's resignation ends the ongoing investigation by the sheriff review committee that was appointed by the Governor on July 1, 2004 .
