ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Aelera Corporation, a 10-year-old Alpharetta, Georgia-based technology development services company, will establish an application development center in Savannah and a business process outsourcing (BPO) center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.  The company plans to hire as many as 250 technical and business support professionals in these two cities over the next two years.  The company has signed lease agreements in both cities and has begun recruiting efforts.

Aelera had originally planned to hire or establish an offshoring firm in India , China or Armenia .  However, after Aelera CEO Dustin Crane evaluated those countries, the decision was made to look closer at domestic options.  Aelera worked with the Georgia Department of Economic Development to evaluate a number of cities around the state.

"I am especially pleased that Aelera has decided to expand their business operations in Georgia since they had so seriously considered offshoring these jobs," said Governor Sonny Perdue.  "I hope that other companies see Aelera's experience and decide to investigate the benefits of 'homeshoring' and the talented labor force here in Georgia ."

"We realized there was a better business case closer to home.  For client application development projects, our research indicates that it takes 12-18 months to begin realizing costs savings from offshoring operations.  By using resources close to home, many of the start-up costs are minimized or eliminated and efficiencies are realized much sooner," said Aelera Chief Executive Officer Dustin Crane.

The company believes it can use its lower cost development and BPO capabilities to reduce the total cost of its clients' technology projects by 20 to 30% compared to standard industry rates and eliminate cost variables that exist in offshoring including travel costs, knowledge transfer issues, increasing labor rates, and quality control.

The company was very impressed with the telecommunication infrastructure, availability of talent, and workforce development programs available in Georgia .  The company believes that the combination of all these factors will help them achieve their growth goals.
