Governor Perdue Announces Solicitor-General Appointments

ATLANTA , GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today two solicitor-general appointments for Chattooga and DeKalb Counties . Don Thompson has been appointed solicitor-general for Chattooga County and Shawn LaGrua for DeKalb County . The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the State Capitol.
Brief biographies are provided below:
Shawn E. LaGrua , 42, Atlanta , GA - LaGrua has served as Senior Assistant District Attorney for DeKalb County since 2001. Prior to this position, LaGrua gained extensive background in public law service, working for the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctor from Georgia State University . LaGrua is on the Board of Directors of several foundations, including The Georgia Center for Children. She is an instructor for numerous state and federal law enforcement academies and a guest professor at Georgia State University . She and her husband, Chris, have two children.
Don W. Thompson, 31, Summerville , GA - Thompson currently manages his practice, serving as primary council. He practices general law, specializing in trial advocacy. Thompson holds a degree in Political Science from Berry College and a Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law. He volunteers his services to less fortunate children who need legal representation and is a participant in the Mock Trial program at local high schools. Thompson is the treasurer of the Lookout Mountain Bar Association. He and his wife, Erica, reside in Summerville.
