Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the overwhelming passage of his child protection legislation by the General Assembly:
"I am delighted that our child protection package has passed the General Assembly. I look forward to signing it very soon. I interjected myself into this issue because it had dragged on for far too long and it was time to get it done. I was determined Georgia would have child protection legislation that looked out for the health and welfare of our children. Mary and I have said time after time that it is our moral obligation to care for the children of this state.
"I want to thank the Lieutenant Governor for his support. And I want to commend my floor leaders in the House and Senate for their diligence on this issue."
