Governor Perdue Announces Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following appointments to State Boards and Commissions:

Board of Industry, Trade and Tourism

Robert Moultrie, 62, Smyrna, GA, At Large - Moultrie is Chairman and CEO of The Facility Group, a professional services organization. He has over 35 years experience in the design/construct industry, including an eleven year tenure with the Carlson Corporation. Moultrie served as Chair of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Facilities Advisory Committee of the Board of Regents, the Southern Polytechnic State University Foundation, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgian Club. He was recognized as the southeast region's "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2003 by the Construction/Real Estate industry and the Georgia Institute of Technology Alexander Tharpe Member of the Year. Moultrie received his undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Cheryl, have two children.

Georgia Council for the Arts

Ray Horne, 67, Warner Robins, GA, 3 rd Congressional District - Horne is currently a theatre teacher at Northside High School. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Theatre Conference and the Georgian Thespians. Horne is a former member of the Georgia Council for the Arts and was inducted into the Georgia Thespian Hall of Fame and the International Thespian Hall of Fame. He is past President of the Morning Optimist Georgia Theatre Conference. Horne was recognized as Jaycess Outstanding Citizen of the Year and Board of Realtors Outstanding Citizen of the Year. He was also presented with the Suzanne M. Davis Award for Outstanding Service to Theatre by the Southeastern Theatre Conference. Horne received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University.

Kathleen Williams, 57, Atlanta, GA, 4 th Congressional District - Williams is past student activities advisor for Yeshiva High School. She also taught English and served as Director of Student Counseling at Columbus Business University. Williams is past Hospitality Chairman of the Westminster Schools Summer Expo and past Chairman of Atlanta Ballet International Night. She is also past Chairman of Trinity School Spotlight on Georgia Artists Art Auction. Williams received her undergraduate degree from New York University. She and her husband, David, have two children.

Leeta McDougald, 60, Rome, GA, 11 th Congressional District - McDougald is the founder, owner, and president of Advertising Dynamics, Inc. She is past President and General Manager of McDougald Broadcasting Corporation. In 1991, McDougald was recognized as Georgia 's Broadcaster-Citizen of the Year and became President-Elect of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. She received the National Association of Broadcasters Crystal and two National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Awards. McDougald's radio stations were named "Radio Station of the Year" in Georgia on several occasions. She received her undergraduate degree from Gadsden Business College. McDougald and her husband, Michael, have two children.

Marjorie Newman, 63, Columbus, GA, 11 th Congressional District - Newman has taught in the Alabama and Georgia public school systems. She is President of the Columbus Symphony Women's Association and the Columbus Council of Garden Clubs. Newman serves on the Columbus Symphony Board of Directors and the Greater Columbus Youth Orchestra Board. She also serves on the Patrons of Music Board for the Columbus State University Schwob Music Department. Newman received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Auburn University. She and her husband, Jerry, have three children.

Civil War Commission

Mel Steely, 64, Carrollton, GA, At Large - Steely is currently a professor of history at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia, and has taught there since 1963. Steely is a member of the American Association of University Professors, the Historical Society, and the Georgia Association of Historians. Steely received an undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman College and a graduate degree and doctorate from Vanderbuilt University. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children.

Commission on Women

Elizabeth P. Klemann, 60, Albany, GA, At Large - Klemann is presently the owner of The Resource Connector, Inc. She also has taught French in the Fulton and Lee County School Systems. Klemann was the recipient of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award and is past President of the Auxiliary to the Medical Society in Dougherty County. She received her undergraduate degree from Agnes Scott College and completed courses at the Universite de Strasbourg, France. Klemann and her husband, Gilbert, have three children and one grandchild.

Georgia Golf Hall of Fame

Ken Mangum, 51, Cumming, GA, At Large - Mangum is the Director of Golf Courses and Grounds for the Atlanta Athletic Club. He serves on the Tournament Committee for the Golf Course Superintendent's Association of America and previously has served on the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Advisory Board. Mangum is a member of the American Golf Team that won the 1999 Hayter Cup and teamed with William Shirley to win the 1st Annual Georgia Turfgrass Foundation Trust Tournament. He received his associates degree in Golf Course Operations from Lake City Community College and is a Certified Golf Course Superintendent. He and his wife, Pamela, have three children.

John Reynolds, 64, Augusta, GA, At Large, Reappointment - Reynolds is currently the Vice President of Global Business Development. He is retired from a private neurological practice and served as a Major in the United States Army Medical Corps. Reynolds serves on the board of the Georgia State Golf Association and has served on various committees of the United States Golf Association. He is a member of the Golf Collectors Society of America and serves on the board of the Georgia Junior Golf Foundation. Reynolds received his undergraduate degrees from the Citadel and an M.D. from the University of Georgia School of Medicine. He and his wife, Harriet, have two children.

State Board of Medical Education

Gregory Hopkins, 50, Cochran, GA, At Large - Hopkins is the Director of Unadilla Healthcare Center and President of PremiseHealth, Inc. He is the past Emergency Department Director of Bleckley Memorial Hospital and has served as a United States Army Signal Officer and Pilot. Hopkins also served as a Delegate of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He received his undergraduate degree from Augusta College and an M.D. from Medical College of Georgia. Hopkins and his wife, Trudy, have four children.

State Board of Nursing Home Administrators

Dr. O.B. Johnson, 65, Dublin, GA, Medical Doctor Representative - Johnson presently has a private practice, Dublin Internal Medicine, Inc. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of Fairview Park Hospital and serves on the board of Laurens Memorial Hospital . As a Major in the United States Army, Johnson received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Medical Badge, Army Commendation Medal, and Air Medal. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his Doctor of Medicine from Emory School of Medicine. Johnson and his wife, Susan, have one child.

State Board of Registration of Used Car Dealers and Used Motor Vehicles Parts Dealers

Trummie Patrick, 59, Roswell, GA, Automotive Insurance Representative - Patrick is an Insurance Agent with State Farm Insurance. He is past President of the Roswell Rotary Club and serves on the board of the Cancer Society. Patrick is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. Patrick and his wife, Sylvia, have two children.
