Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding Senate passage of his flexibility and accountability in education legislation (SB429):
"Our frontline educators need permanent flexibility in this new era of greater education accountability. Local school systems and individual schools know the needs of their students better than anyone. We should empower local schools by providing them funding flexibility so that they can target areas that need improvement. The members of the Senate have shown today that they understand this important principle and trust our educators to do their job. I appreciate their bipartisan support of this legislation."
