Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding Senate passage of his school discipline bill (SB428):

"The Senate today took a bold, bipartisan step toward improving discipline in the classrooms across our state. I will continue to work with the legislature to ensure that this legislation becomes law. Our school administrators and teachers deserve more discipline tools at their disposal to deal with disruptive and unruly students. This legislation will send a clear message that each teacher is in charge of his or her classroom. I urge the House to follow the Senate's lead and pass this important legislation."
