Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue unveiled today the new 2004 uniforms for the Georgia Force designed by Atlanta-based Russell Athletic, a division of Russell Corporation. Governor Perdue was joined by Virgil Williams, Georgia Force Owner; Matt Mirchin, President of Russell Athletic; and Vince Dooley, Chairman of the Georgia Force Advisory Board. Governor Perdue was presented with a Georgia Force jersey with the number 14, the same number worn by the Governor while playing football at the University of Georgia.
"The Georgia Force is a fairly new member of Georgia's sports family, but we are proud of how well they've played in their short time here," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "They are definitely a great addition to the Georgia sports tradition."
The Georgia Force will open their third season of play in the Arena Football League (AFL) when they kick off the 2004 season on Sunday, February 8th at 3:00 p.m. against the New York Dragons in the Arena at Gwinnett Center. This season, the Force will look to build on their record eight wins and second round playoff appearance in 2003. Ticket information is available at www.georgiaforce.com or by calling 770-813-7610.
