Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following appointments to State Boards and Commissions:
Board of Governors of the George L. Smith II Georgia World Congress Center Authority
Raymond Anderson, 49, Roswell, GA (At Large) - Anderson is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Atlanta Falcons. Before joining the Falcons, he was director and sports agent for NFL coaches and players. This year he was named to Sports Illustrated list of the "101 Most Influential Minorities in Sports," and was recognized locally by 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. Anderson received his undergraduate degree in political science from Stanford and a jurist doctorate degree from Harvard Law School. He and his wife, Buffie, have two children.
Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission
Edmond "Eddie" Wilson, 43, Rome, GA (11th Congressional District) - Wilson serves as the President and COO of Georgia Bank & Trust. He is past board member for Georgia Young Bankers Association and Perry Chamber of Commerce. Wilson received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University and an MBA from Mercer University. He and his wife, Penny, have three children.
Jekyll Island State Park Authority
James Young "J.Y." Jones, M.D. , 59, Dublin, GA (At Large) - Jones is currently a practicing ophthalmologist, he is a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He served in the United States Army and has written over sixty articles published to date in hunting and outdoor literature. Jones received his undergraduate degree from North Georgia College and M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, Linda, have two children.
Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
Mark Chastain, 34, Ellijay, GA (Land Surveyor) - Chastain is serving as the County Surveyor in Gilmer County. He is a member of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia, Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce and past board member for the Rotary Club of Gilmer County. Chastain has a degree in civil engineering technology from Southern College of Technology, and various short course certifications from Auburn University. He and his wife, Donna, have three children.
Theodore "Ted" Waddle, 75, Warner Robins (Land Surveyor) - Waddle currently owns and operates his own surveying company and is a past Georgia State Representative. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers and the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia. Waddle attended Georgetown College and International Correspondence Schools. He and his wife, Barbara, have four children.
