Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue today issued the following statement regarding the Department of Human Resources (DHR) initiative to improve operations of Family and Children Services in Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties.
"Mary and I share a strong passion and love for children, particularly children in foster care who need a place to call home. Ensuring the safety and well-being of Georgia's children in foster care is the primary responsibility of Family and Children Services. We must be proactive because these kids deserve a safe and loving environment.
"We are encouraged by the efforts of the Department of Human Resources to provide state assistance and guidance to Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties. Dr. Oliva and her team are committed to improving the quality of life for these children and the quality of care that they receive."
