Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue today praised the service of Russ Toal to the Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC). Toal resigned to the GCC Board of Directors today in order to entertain other job opportunities.

"I want to personally thank Russ Toal for his exemplary service to the State of Georgia and the Georgia Cancer Coalition. During his tenure as President, the Cancer Coalition has made substantial progress toward full implementation of Georgia's cancer initiative," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "His leadership of this organization will be missed. I wish him the very best as he moves forward."

Governor Perdue also announced today that Hamilton Jordan and Dr. Louis Sullivan will be leading a committee to review the overall strategic mission of the GCC. Jordan is an entrepreneur, author, noted cancer advocate and cancer survivor, and former Chief of Staff to President Jimmy Carter. Sullivan is the former President of the Morehouse School of Medicine and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"As the Cancer Coalition transitions to new leadership, it is the perfect opportunity for us to review the Coalition's strategic mission to make certain the organization is meeting its original purpose and goals," added Governor Perdue.
