Statement of Governor Perdue Regarding the Passing of Representative Mike Barnett

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement regarding the passing of former State Representative Mike Barnett:

"I would like to offer my condolence to the family of Mike Barnett. He was a good man and will be remembered by his colleagues and friends here for the time he spent at the statehouse working on behalf of his constituents. Gwinnett County and Georgia have lost a good steward and a friend."

Representative Mike Barnett served in the State House of Representatives from 1983 to 1992. He was also the Republican Caucus Secretary from 1985 to 1986. He served the Gwinnett County district, at that time HD59, before redistricting.
