Governor Perdue Reappoints Simms to Lead Office of Child Advocate

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the reappointment of DeAlvah Hill Simms as the Child Advocate for the State of Georgia.

"Dee Simms has demonstrated in her time as Child Advocate that she is a compassionate and effective leader with an absolute devotion to children," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "I know she will continue to promote the safety and well-being of Georgia's children."

Simms has served as the state's Child Advocate since July 2000. She is an attorney with over fourteen years of experience. As an Assistant District Attorney in the Macon Judicial Circuit, she prosecuted crimes against children until 1997 when she left the DA's office to become the Director of Crescent House, a children's advocacy center and member of Children's Advocacy Centers of Georgia, Inc. (CACs). Simms is a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC), the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) and the United States Ombudsman Association.
