Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the resignation of Rebecca Paul as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Georgia Lottery Corporation:

"Under Rebecca Paul's leadership, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over six billion dollars to education since 1993. Her impressive management and innovative marketing of the Georgia Lottery has not only been recognized here in Georgia, but around the nation. I want to personally thank Rebecca for her service to this state and to the students who directly benefit from the lottery.

"As she moves on to lead the new Tennessee lottery, I wish her the very best. I know she will be successful. We will begin the process of finding new leadership for the Georgia Lottery Corporation immediately. I am confident that we will find the right person to continue the success of the last ten years. Also, I am thankful that we have an experienced board to oversee the operation of the lottery. These board members, such as David Garrett who was instrumental in bringing Rebecca Paul to Georgia, will provide great leadership in the search for a new President and CEO."
