Governor Perdue Appoints Director of Georgia Public Safety Training Center

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Dale Mann will be the next Director of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth, GA.

"Georgia's public safety officials will have a strong and effective leader at the state's public safety training facility with Dale Mann serving as the Director," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "I appreciate his willingness to serve the State of Georgia and all our public safety officers."

The primary objective of GPSTC is to provide high quality, cost effective training to law enforcement, fire service, correctional, emergency medical service, and judicial personnel. GPSTC is responsible for the coordination of the delivery of training to all state public safety officers, job specific training programs for state agencies, advanced and specialized training for both state and local peace officers, chief executive training and supervisory and management training. Correctional officer training, both basic and advanced, and other correctional related subjects are provided through the Georgia Department of Corrections Training Academy. GPSTC is responsive to the training needs of all fire and safety related services through the auspices of the Georgia Fire Academy.

A brief biography is provided below.

J. Dale Mann, 49, Barnesville, GA - Mann has served since January 2002 as the Division Director for the Regional Training Division of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, which includes the supervision of seven regional police academies throughout Georgia. From 2001 - 2002, he was Division Director of the Anti-Terrorism Training Task Force. Mann earned a Masters of Science in Criminal Law from Albany State College, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia, and an Associate of Arts in Criminal Science from Abraham-Baldwin Agricultural College. Some of Mann's activities include teaching for the National Institute for Ethics, instructing in the areas of legal issues, liability and ethics, as well as being a private pilot.
