Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced plans to recommend Bill Donohue continue his service as Executive Director of the Jekyll Island State Park Authority (Authority).

"Jekyll Island is a beautiful natural resource and a popular vacation and recreation area," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "The state must continue to carefully maintain one of Georgia's premier barrier islands. I am confident that Bill Donohue will continue serving Jekyll Island and our state and with a sound understanding of stewardship and responsibility."

Jekyll Island is leased by the state to the Authority, which is comprised of a nine-member board. The board is appointed by the Governor for four-year terms to set policy for the island's operation and is responsible for hiring the Executive Director. The Executive Director and a staff of four Senior Division Directors oversee the operation, maintenance and promotion of the island's amenities and Historic Landmark District, and the provision of municipal services for the island's residential community, 10 hotels, rental cottages and businesses.
