Governor Perdue Swears-In New State Board of Natural Resources Member

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue today delivered the oath of office to Ralph Callaway, the newly selected member to the State Board of Natural Resources (Board) from the Eleventh Congressional District. The Board is comprised of 18 members; one from each of the state's congressional districts, one coastal representative, and four appointed at large. The Board is responsible for establishing the general policies of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). DNR manages the state's natural resources for the benefit of people, wildlife, the environment, and the economic well-being of the state.

"Ralph brings in-depth knowledge and understanding of Georgia's natural beauty and the importance of our natural resources," said Governor Perdue. "His passion for Georgians and our environment is undeniable. I look forward to working with him and the rest of the Board to manage the state's natural resources."

Ralph Callaway, Columbus, GA, 11th Congressional District - Since 2000, Callaway has served as the Director of Business Development for the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, the nonprofit organization that owns Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. From 1997 to 2000, he served as Director of Systems. Prior to joining the Callaway Foundation, he was owner and president of Mile High Information Systems, a computer consulting firm specializing in network integration. Callaway's community involvement includes serving as president of the Harris County Chamber of Commerce, treasurer for Port Columbus Civil War Naval Center and board member for the Chattahoochee Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a 1982 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in electrical engineering. Callaway is the youngest child of Howard "Bo" Callaway. He lives with his wife and three children in Columbus and they are active members of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
