Governor Perdue Swears-In New State Board of Education Member

Graham Brings Corporate Financial and Leadership Experience to State Government

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue today delivered the oath of office to Al Hodge, the newly selected member to the State Board of Education (Board) from the Eleventh District. The Board is comprised of 13 members, each member from one of the state's congressional districts.

"Al Hodge will be a dedicated member of the State Board of Education with his commitment to the educational excellence of all Georgia's students," said Governor Perdue. "I look forward to working with him, Superintendent Cox and the entire State Board of Education."

Albert "Al" M. Hodge, Jr., Rome, GA, 11th District - Hodge is the President and CEO of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, an organization of nearly 1,000 businesses who voluntarily join and participate to make a difference in the community. He also serves as a Board Member with the Rome-Floyd Communities in Schools and the Rome Rotary Club. Hodge is a native of Savannah and a graduate of the University of Georgia. Georgia Trend Magazine recognized Hodge as a Notable Georgian in January 2002 and 2003. Hodge is married to Cheryl Riner Hodge and they have one daughter attending the University of Georgia.
