Statement of Governor Perdue Regarding the Passing of James Brown
ATLANTA, GA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Georgia musical legend James Brown:
“Mary and I join the people of Georgia and our nation in mourning the loss of James Brown. The Godfather of Soul brought a unique energy and enthusiasm to his work, which is evidenced by the great outpouring of love his fans are showing in New York and here in Georgia.”
“James Brown was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1983, and he continued to inspire and excite musicians and music lovers until he passed this Christmas. We are grateful that he shared his passion with us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
