Governor and First Lady Announce Holiday Schedule at Governor’s Mansion

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue and First Lady Mary Perdue today announced the 2006 holiday schedule for events and tours of the Governor’s Mansion.  The Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place Sunday, December 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  The ceremony is open to the public and reservations are not required. 

During the holiday season public tours will be offered from December 4 to December 15, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday tours will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  To secure a tour, individuals must call (404) 261-1776 for reservations.  After December 15, the Governor’s Mansion will close for the remainder of the holidays and will reopen on January 23, 2007.

The Governor and First Lady have designated the Governor’s Mansion as a drop site for the United States Marines’ Toys for Tots program.  Donations of unwrapped toys will be accepted throughout the holiday season for children across the state.
