Governor Appoints Elizabeth Pequeno Archer as Inspector General

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Elizabeth Pequeno Archer as Inspector General for the state of Georgia. Archer has served as Interim Inspector General since April 2006.

“Georgia’s Inspector General is the watchdog of government, diligently working to ensure sunshine and transparency,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “Elizabeth Archer has brought a wealth of knowledge and integrity to the position, and we are pleased to have her leadership in this important office.”

The Office of Inspector General was created by Governor Perdue in January 2003 and charged with promoting accountability and integrity in state government. Archer replaces Brigadier General James E. Sehorn, who retired in April 2006.

A brief biography of Elizabeth Archer is provided below:

Elizabeth Pequeno Archer, 37, Atlanta, GA – Archer served as a deputy inspector general in the Office of the Inspector General from August 2003 to August 2005. From January 1997 to July 2003, she was a senior trial attorney with the Fulton County Public Defender’s Office. She also served as an assistant public defender with the Third Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office in Lake City, Florida from September 1994 to December 1996. She received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Rollins College and her law degree from Mercer University. Archer is married and has two children.
