Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.

Georgia Public Defender Standards Council

Stephen E. Tillman, 37, Baxley, GA, Member – Tillman is an attorney in Appling County. He served as president of the Baxley Kiwanis Club and the Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the 159 Group and the Holmesville Masonic Lodge. Tillman received a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a law degree from the University of Georgia.

Board of Public Safety

Eugene “Gene” Stuckey, 68, Jonesboro, GA, Member – Stuckey is the owner of Stuckey Property Management and Stuckey Pine Straw, Inc. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for more than twenty years and served as state president of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. Stuckey is a former part-time deputy sheriff of Bulloch County, and is a lifetime honorary member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association. He serves on the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing. Stuckey and his wife, Jill, have one child.

Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners

J. Christopher Nelson, 39, Rome, GA, Chiropractor Representative – Nelson is a chiropractor at the Chiropractic Center of Rome. He serves as president for the District II Georgia Chiropractic Association, and is committee chairman for the Georgia Chiropractic Association’s Presidents Council. He serves on the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce. Nelson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, and a master’s degree and doctor of chiropractic degree from Life University. He and his wife, Amy, have two children.
