Statement of Governor Sonny Perdue Regarding Final Passage of the Land Conservation Tax Credit
ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding final passage of the Land Conservation Tax Credit (HB1107):
“I'd like to thank the General Assembly for passing this legislation and giving landowners an incentive to donate land or a conservation easement to help protect Georgia 's natural beauty. This tax credit upholds Georgia 's long tradition of private ownership and conservation by keeping land for conservation as private property. I learned long ago that if you take care of the land it will take care of you, and I look forward to signing the Land Conservation Tax Credit into law.”
HB1107 was sponsored by House Floor Leader Jay Roberts and was carried by Senator Casey Cagle. The bill passed the Senate unanimously today 49-0. It received unanimous passage in the House (156-0) on February 8, 2006.
