Governor Announces Departure of Press Secretary Hedrick Teilhet

Heather Hedrick Teilhet to Lead WellStar Institute for Better Health

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Heather Hedrick Teilhet, press secretary for the office of the Governor, will leave state government to become the executive director of the WellStar Institute for Better Health, a health care policy think tank guided by community leaders and physicians of WellStar Health System.  Hedrick Teilhet, 30, has served as press secretary for the Office of the Governor since December 2004.

“I’m grateful for Heather’s hard work and dedication to communicate our message to the citizens of Georgia through the media,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.  “Heather values policy over partisanship, and those values combined with her communication skills will greatly benefit her future endeavors.”

Before becoming Governor Perdue’s press secretary, Hedrick Teilhet served as the director of public affairs for the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles managing communications and legislative affairs.  Hedrick Teilhet also served as a staffer to Governor Roy Barnes and the Georgia Senate.  She is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she studied journalism and political science, and she received a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia State University.

Hedrick Teilhet’s departure is effective December 1, 2006.  Her replacement will be announced soon.
