Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Professional Standards Commission

Sallie R. Bullock, 58, Hull, GA, Teacher Representative - Bullock is a teacher in the Mathematics Department at Madison County High School where she has taught for 24 years. She has been honored numerous times as a STAR teacher and is a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Georgia Council for Teachers of Mathematics, the Georgia Association of Advanced Placement Math Teachers and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Bullock earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and a specialist’s degree in math education from the University of Georgia. She and her husband, Spratt, have two grown children.

Georgia Council for the Arts

Sandra Bailey, 67, Gainesville, GA, Tenth Congressional District Representative - Bailey retired as the president and publisher of The Times (Gainesville) in 1998. She spent her entire career in the newspaper business, working throughout the southeast, including Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia. She has served on the board of directors of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, board of directors of the United Way and as a member of the Georgia Citizens Council for the Arts. Bailey attended Auburn University and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida. She and her husband, Jack, have five grown children and nine grandchildren.

Debra C. Mundy, 60, Martinez, GA, Ninth Congressional District Representative - Mundy is a self-employed interior design consultant. She is a member and former president of the Augusta Symphony Guild, a member and former secretary of the board of directors of the Augusta Symphony Orchestra and a member of the board of directors of the American Cancer Society. She is also involved at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church where she serves as an Elder and as chair of the interior design committee. Mundy earned a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Auburn University. She and her husband, John, have two grown children.

Child Fatality Review Panel

Nancy N. Fajman, MD, 54, Decatur, GA, Abuse Prevention Organization Representative - Fajman is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine. She also serves as a clinician in the Child Advocacy Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, program development specialist in the Child Protection Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and affiliate faculty member for the Center for Injury Control at the Rollins School of Public Health. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. Fajman earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University College of New York at New Paltz and a certification in nuclear medicine technology from Grady Memorial Hospital. She earned a master’s degree in medical science, master’s degree in public health and medical doctorate, all from Emory University. She has two grown children.

State Housing Trust Fund for the Homeless Commission

Jo E. Maypole, 57, Ph. D., Augusta, GA, Member - Maypole is the president and chief executive officer of the United Way of the CRSA, Inc. Prior to assuming this position five years ago, she served in the health care field for 20 years and held several positions with University Health Care System. In addition to serving as a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary International, she has served on the boards of the American Cancer Society, Augusta Ballet, Georgia Easter Seal Society, Junior League of Augusta, St. John’s Towers and Kiwanis Club of Augusta. Maypole earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in counselor education from the University of South Carolina. She and her husband, Bill, have three grown children and four grandchildren.
