Governor Perdue Extends Open Enrollment Period

Commitment made between United and Phoebe Putney Health System in Albany, Georgia

ATLANTA – Today Governor Sonny Perdue announced that United Health Plan and the Phoebe Putney Health System in Albany , Georgia have signed a letter of agreement to enter into a contract that will provide healthcare services to employees, retirees and beneficiaries who choose the PPO option under the State Health Benefit Plan program.

The commitment will ensure healthcare provider access to approximately 8,000 state employees and retirees, and an additional 6,300 dependents, for a total of 14,300 impacted members in southwest Georgia .  

Governor Perdue also announced that the period of open enrollment will be extended until November 18, 2005, adding ten days to the period of time employees, retirees and dependants can enroll for healthcare coverage. The additional ten days will provide coverage recipients with more time to select healthcare providers.
