ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the final passage of the reorganization of the Department of Motor Vehicle Services (HB 501):
“Finally Georgians can look forward to shorter lines to get their drivers licenses. I first introduced this bill to bring a renewed focus to this agency, which will have one core mission: to issue drivers licenses in the most efficient and customer friendly manner possible. I commend the members of the General Assembly for passing legislation that will accomplish this goal.”
Today the House of Representatives agreed by a vote of 96-73 to the Senate substitute of the bill. The bill is now ready for the Governor’s signature.
