Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia

Donald M. Leebern, Jr., 66, Athens, GA, At Large Reappointment – Leebern serves as chairman of Georgia Crown Distributing Co., Alabama Crown Distribution Co., and Tennessee Crown Distribution Co. He also serves on the board of directors of the Hughston Sports Medicine Foundation, the University of Georgia Athletic Association, the Columbus College Foundation, Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America and Columbus Steeplechase. Leebern is a member of the University of Georiga Alumni Society, the Georgia Hall of Fame, the Capitol City Club, the Commerce Club and the Georgia Club. He was nominated as “Man of the Year” in 1995 by the Boy Scouts of America. He attended the University of Georgia.

Wanda Yancey Rodwell, 39, Stone Mountain, GA, 4th District (REAPPOINTMENT) –Rodwell serves as general manager of corporate communications for Delta Air Lines. Prior to that, she served as vice president of public affairs for the Grady Health System. She is a member of the Development Authority of DeKalb County. She also serves as chair of the Calvin A. Rodwell Foundation and DBR Enterprises, Inc. Rodwell was named one of “Georgia’s Most Powerful Women in Health Care Industry/Medicine” by Women Looking Ahead News Magazine. Rodwell was awarded the nation’s first Cox Enterprises Minority Journalism scholarship for college study, the Spelman College Honors Honors Program scholarship and the Atlanta Association of Black Journalist scholarship. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College. She is married to the late Calvin A. Rodwell.

Richard L. Tucker, 56, Duluth, GA, 7th District – Tucker principal and managing partner of Arlington Capital LLC, a mezzanine lending fund. He recently served as the president and CEO of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. Tucker serves on the board of directors for the Gwinnett Foundation, the Council for Quality Growth, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, Atlanta Athletic Club and the Gwinnett Convention & Visitors Bureau. Georgia Trend Magazine has recognized Tucker as one of the ‘100 Most Influential Georgians’ for four years and the Atlanta Journal Constitution named him as one of the most influential Gwinnett leaders for 2002. He is the advisory board chairman of the Regional Business Coalition and the Citizens Project Selection Committee of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. Tucker is a former member of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and the Governor’s Development Council. Tucker received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Margaret, have two children.
