Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.

Board of Economic Development

Bennie "Ben" F. Hinson, Jr., 54, Macon, 8th Congressional District – Hinson is president and founder of Mid Georgia Ambulance Service.  He is a member of the American Ambulance Association, the Macon Rotary Club, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council and the Homeland Security Policy Institute at George Washington University.  He is also a founding member of the Georgia EMS Directors Association, the finance chairman of the 21st Century Partnership and chairman of the Georgia Board of Public Safety memorial committee.  He served as president of the American Ambulance Association, the Macon Rotary Club, the Macon Red Cross, the Macon Cannonball House Museum and the Georgia EMS Directors Association.  Hinson earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University.  He and his wife, Vicki, have two grown children. 

Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission

Warren "Rhubarb" Jones, 55, Marietta, 6th Congressional District –Jones is a 22-year Atlanta radio morning show veteran on Eagle 106.7 FM.  He is a member of the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame in Nashville, and he is a past board member of the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.  Jones has earned national awards from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in Radio Award from the March of Dimes.  He is a former member of the State Board of Technical and Adult Education and is a current member of the Board of Trustees of the University of West Georgia, the Board of Visitors of Shorter College and Sigma Beta Delta, an honor society for business leadership. Jones earned a bachelor's degree from the State University of West Georgia and a master's degree from Shorter College. 

John L. Cowherd, 59, Jonesboro, 13th Congressional District – Cowherd served as director of research for Windward Capital Advisors, LLC. He retired from Delta Air Lines, Inc, as senior flight training planner after 35 years of service and served as president and CEO of Paint Horizons, Inc.  He is the consumer member on the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy, and he is a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and the Jonesboro Historical Society.  Cowherd attended Georgia Southwestern State University and Clayton State University.  He has four children and five grandchildren.

Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities

Jamie L. Cahill, 54, Alpharetta, Member – Cahill is an SAT essay scorer with Pearson Educational Measurement. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama and an ESL certificate from Valdosta State University.  Cahill has two grown children and two grandchildren.
