53 Million Package will Support Critical Construction and Renovation Needs in Georgia’s Technical Colleges

ATLANTA- Governor Sonny Perdue announced today a $53 million bond package for Georgia’s Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE). This bond package will address critical new construction and renovation needs in Georgia’s technical colleges.  The bonds are part of Governor Perdue’s FY08 budget proposal, which was presented today to the Georgia General Assembly during the Governor’s annual State of the State Address.

“Improving education and growing our economy are my top priorities.  Meeting the increasing needs of our technical colleges across the state is an investment in both,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.  “These new projects will help Georgia’s technical colleges keep pace with demand and will help Georgia’s DTAE continue to provide excellent lifelong education and training for all adult Georgians and corporate citizens.”

The Governor’s budget also includes $10 million cash for obsolete equipment and $10.7 million cash for major repairs and rehabilitation. The list of Governor Perdue’s FY08 DTAE bond projects is attached.
