Governor Perdue Announces Bond Package for Board of Regents
$228 Million Package Will Meet Growing Demand for Higher Education in Georgia
ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today a $228 million bond package for Georgia’s Board of Regents. The bonds will fund critical new construction and renovation projects throughout Georgia’s University system. These projects are included in Governor Perdue’s FY08 budget proposal, which was presented today to the Georgia General Assembly during the Governor’s annual State of the State Address.
“In my Inaugural Address I spoke about moving Georgia forward toward a world class education system,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “These projects help us accomplish that task and meet the needs of a growing state.”
The Governor’s budget also includes $17.5 million cash for major repairs and rehabilitation, making the total funding for major repairs and rehabilitation $60 million. The list of Governor Perdue’s FY08 Board of Regents bond projects is attached.
