Governor Announces Appointments to Habersham, DeKalb State Court

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue today announced judicial appointments in the State Court of Habersham County and the State Court of DeKalb County. Steven Campbell was appointed to the State Court of Habersham County. The vacancy was created by the appointment of Judge Linton K. Crawford, Jr. to the Mountain Superior Court.
The Governor also announced that he will appoint Dax E. Lopez to the State Court of DeKalb County. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Judge Edward E. Carriere, Jr. effective August 31, 2010.

StateCourt of Habersham County
Steven Campbell – Campbell serves as the municipal court judge for the town of Tallulah Falls. He is also a partner with Campbell & Campbell and the city attorney for the city of Cornelia. He attends Cornelia United Methodist Church and serves on the Cornelia UMC Finance Committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He and his wife, Susan, have one daughter.
StateCourt of Dekalb County
Dax E. Lopez – Lopez is a member of the Foltz Martin LLC litigation group. Previously he worked as a member at Ashe, Rafuse, & Hill LLP. Lopez also worked for the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico as a law clerk for the Honorable Hector M. Laffitte. He is a graduate of the Coverdell Leadership Institute and is treasurer for the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He and his wife, Zulma, have four children.
