ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments. Brief biographies are provided below:
Georgia Board of Nursing
Barry A. Cranfill, 47, Marietta – Cranfill is president and chief executive officer of Sentry Anesthesia Management, LLC. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and past president of the Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pain Management, the Georgia Nurses Association, and Medical Group Management Association. He is a member of the National Association of Flight Instructors and is certified as a Master Certificated Flight Instructor. Cranfill earned a bachelor’s degree from both the University of the State of New York and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; he earned a master’s degree from both the Medical University of South Carolina and Troy State University; and he is currently pursing a doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University. He and his wife, Stacia, have two children.
Board of Corrections
Kevin K. Tanner, 38, Dawsonville, Ninth Congressional District Representative – Tanner is the county manager of Dawson County. He has been employed by Dawson County for the last twenty years starting as a volunteer firearm and eventually served as chief deputy/undersheriff with the Sheriff’s office. He is a member of the Rotary Club, board of trustees for the Chestatee Regional Hospital, executive board of the Northeast Georgia Boy Scout Council, and board of directors for the Rainbow Children’s Home in Dahlonega. He previously served on the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Board and the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel. Tanner earned a bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College and State University and a master’s degree from Columbus State University and is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. He and his wife, Stacie, have three children.

Robert “Robbo” F. Hatcher, Jr., 45, Macon – Hatcher is president and chief executive officer of H2 Capital, Inc. and H2 Consulting, LLC and chairman of NanoMist Systems, LLC. He is the founding director and member of the executive committee for MidCountry Financial Corp, chairman of the Macon Chamber of Commerce, and chair-elect of the Stratford Academy Board. He is a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Policy Committee, the Macon Economic Development Commission Board, Mercer University Stetson School of Business and Economics Board of Visitors, Wesleyan College Board of Trustees and the Macon Council of Foundations. Hatcher earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Betsy, have two children.
Jonathan F. “Rocky” Rief, 47, Atlanta – Rief is the director of Operations Research and Strategy for the Coca-Cola Company. He previously served as director of Public Policy, Trends and Insight for Coca-Cola. He is a member of the Stanford Club of Georgia, Garden Hills Civic Association, Garden Hills Parent Teacher Association and the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University. He and his wife, Julie, have two children.

D. Pendleton “Penn” Hodge, 50, Duluth, Sixth Congressional District Representative – Hodge is the owner of Penn Hodge, LLC. He is a board member of the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, North Fulton Community Improvement District, Windward Business Association, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Encore Park Regional Arts Center and Kings Ridge Christian School. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Cynthia, have three children.
Thomas W. Nowell, Jr., 49, Jonesboro, Thirteenth Congressional District Representative – Nowell is the global plant engineering project manager for the United Parcel Service. Prior to joining UPS, he was the facilities manager for Photocircuits Corporation in Peachtree City. Nowell earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Polytechnic State University. He and his wife, Connie, have three children and one grandchild.
Professional Standards Commission
William “Bill” R. Haskin, 52, Valdosta, Teacher Representative – Haskin is a teacher, team leader and science chair at Hahira Middle School. Haskin was named the 2006-2007 Hahira Middle School Teacher of the Year, 2006-2007 Lowndes County School System Teacher of the Year, 2007 Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club Teacher of the Year, and 2008 Georgia Teacher of the Year finalist. He is a member of the education subcommittee of the Community Taskforce Against Violence, Georgia Teacher of the Year selection team, Superintendent’s Advisory Council and is a Georgia Lighthouse Schools to Watch evaluator. Haskin earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Valdosta State University. He and his wife, Debbie, have four children and four grandchildren.
State Board of Registration for Professional Geologists
Randal “Randy” L. Kath, Ph.D., 48, Douglasville, Academic Geologist Representative – Kath is a geology professor and director of the Center for Water Resources at the University of West Georgia. He is the vice president and senior geologist for Petrologic Solutions, Inc. He is secretary and past president of the Georgia Geological Society and is a Geological Society of America campus representative. Kath is a member of the Association of State Boards of Geology Council of Examiners, and the STATEMAP Advisory Panel. He is a member of the Governor’s Water Contingency Task Force’s Groundwater and Aquifer Storage Recovery Technical Advisory Panel. Kath earned a bachelor’s degree from West Georgia College, a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, and a doctoral degree from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He and his wife, Deana, have one child.
