Governor Issues Writ of Election for U.S. House Seat

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that he has issued a writ of special election to fill the vacancy of 9th Congressional District due to the resignation of Congressman Nathan Deal.   Deal submitted his resignation letter last night, effective immediately.

The special election to fill the vacancy will be held April 27, 2010.

Qualifying dates will be set by the Secretary of State’s office. Below is the writ of election:

A vacancy now exists in the United States House of Representatives due to the resignation of the official elected to represent Georgia’s Ninth District. 

 

Therefore, pursuant to Section 21-2-543 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, a writ of election is hereby issued to the Secretary of State for a special election to be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, to fill the vacancy in Georgia’s Ninth District of the United States House of Representatives. 

           

This 22nd day of March, 2010.
