Statement of Governor Sonny Perdue Regarding the Nomination of Rep. David Ralston as Speaker of the House

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the nomination of Rep. David Ralston as Speaker of the House:

“Congratulations to Rep. David Ralston on his nomination to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives. Rep. Ralston has been a faithful public servant of his North Georgia district, a statewide candidate for Attorney General and a respected chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. I have known David for a long time, serving alongside him in the State Senate, and have worked with him closely on many issues. I look forward to David’s leadership and a renewed spirit of cooperation with the Governor’s Office, the Senate and the House. I know the caucus and all of Georgia’s Republicans are proud of the House’s decision today and will fully support Rep. Ralston as he takes on this new role and the challenges facing our state.”
