Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA  Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Community Health

D. Raymond Riddle, 75, Atlanta — Riddle retired as president of Wachovia Bank of Georgia and previously served as president of the First National Bank of Atlanta.  He served as chairman of National Service Industries and director of both AGL Resources, Inc. and Atlantic American Corporation.  Riddle earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  He and his wife, Patricia, have two grown children.

Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council

Roy B. Whitehead, Jr., 56, Loganville, Chief of Police — Whitehead is the chief of police for the City of Snellville Police Department.  He previously served as the chief of police in Summerville, South Carolina, as the lieutenant shift commander for Athens-Clarke County Police Department, and as lead consultant for Law Enforcement Associates.  He serves on both the Gwinnett Superior Court Drug Court Advisory Team and the Regional Police Academy at Athens Advisory Board.  Whitehead earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.  He has one grown child and two grandchildren.

Board of Commissioners of the Superior Court Clerk’s Retirement Fund

G. Brian Brannon, 34, Calhoun, Superior Court Clerk Representative —

Brannon is the Clerk of the Superior Court of Gordon County.  He serves on the Nominating Committee for the Council of Superior Court Clerks of Georgia and has served on the Mentoring Committee, Legislative Committee and Strategic Planning Committee for the Georgia Superior Clerks Association of Georgia.  He is a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee of Gordon County, and he is involved in the Calhoun Rotary Club, where he served as the youth service chairman on the board of directors.  Brannon previously served as the deputy coroner for Gordon County.  He and his wife, Melissa, have two children.

Georgia Board of Nursing

Mary M. Anderson, 49, Statesboro, Registered Nurse Administrator — Anderson is director of nursing for East Georgia Medical Center.  She is president of the Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders and a member of both the Emergency Nurses Association and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.  She served as the director of critical care and emergency services and as nurse manager of emergency services at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she received the Clinical Services Recognition Award.  Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and a master’s degree from Webster University.  She and her husband, James, have three children and two grandchildren.

Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychologists

Carol L. Webb, Ph.D., 56, Atlanta, Psychologist Representative (Reappointment) —

Webb is an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine, where she serves as director of the predoctoral clinical psychology internship program.  She is also a practicing psychologist with Peachtree Psychological Associates.  Webb is vice president of Kidscope, Inc., a nonprofit organization helping kids and families understand cancer.  She serves on both the mobility committee and the board of directors of the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.  Webb earned a bachelor’s degree from Hollins College and a master’s degree and doctoral degree from the University of Delaware
