Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.

Health Strategies Council

T. Robert Dyar, Jr., M.D., 48, Marietta, GA, Member Representing the Health Care Needs of Women – Dyar is an obstetrician/gynecologist at North Cobb Women’s Health and is the chairman of the obstetrics/gynecology department at Kennestone Hospital. He serves as a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Medical Association of Georgia. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Dyar and his wife, Susan, have two children.

Julie Y. Wilkerson, 43, Macon, GA, Member Representing a Population with Special Health Care Access Problems – Wilkerson serves as director of development at the Macon Volunteer Clinic, a free primary medical care facility that treats working uninsured residents of Bibb County. She is a member and past president of the Junior League of Macon. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in education from Mercer University. Wilkerson and her husband, Burt, have three children.

Composite State Board of Medical Examiners

Jean R. Sumner, M.D., 53, Wrightsville, GA, Physician Member – Sumner is a physician in private practice at Washington County Internal Medicine, where she specializes in geriatrics and long-term care. She serves as president of the East Georgia Medical Society and the Georgia Medical Directors Association. Sumner serves as chairman of the Johnson County Board of Health and is a member of the Georgia Rural Health Association and the State Medical Education Board. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and earned a medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine. Sumner and her husband, Joe, have two grown children.

Steven K. Leibel, 49, Dawsonville, GA, Member – Leibel is an attorney and shareholder at Casey Gilson Leibel P.C. He also serves as a Municipal Court Judge in Duluth. He previously served as a partner in the law firm Steven K. Leibel & Associates P.C. and as an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board. Leibel is a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Lawyers Club, the Dahlonega Arts Council and founder of the North Georgia Education Foundation. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and a law degree from Emory University. Leibel and his wife, Julie, have three children.

State Board of Registration of Used Car Dealers and Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers

Dale A. “Butch” Hon, 49, Cochran, GA, Used Parts Dealer Representative – Hon is in his twentieth year as the owner and operator of Hon’s Auto Inc., a used auto parts dealership. He is a member of the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, the Cattleman’s Club and the American Recyclers Association. Hon served on the board of directors of the Georgia Automotive Recyclers Association for twelve years. Hon and his wife, Carla, have two children.
