Governor Perdue Meets with Coalition Military Leadership and Kuwaiti Leader

KUWAIT – Today Governor Sonny Perdue and governors from three other states helped to serve a Thanksgiving meal to members of the United States military stationed in Kuwait. After serving the meal, Governor Perdue enjoyed the Thanksgiving lunch, sitting with troops from Georgia’s 48th Brigade. Governor Perdue visited Kuwait as part of a delegation of four governors, including Governors Haley Barbour of Mississippi, Jennifer Granholm of Michigan and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas.

Governor Perdue expressed his support for the troops and appreciation for their work and sacrifices, especially during the holiday season. Governor Perdue discussed the Georgia National Guard’s role in the global war on terror.

I have so much to be thankful for this year,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “But at the top of my list is the opportunity to spend a Thanksgiving meal with the brave troops from Georgia. My heart swells with pride at the sight of these men and women who are spending their holiday season so far from home, fighting terror across the globe.”

Governor Perdue’s visit to Kuwait included meetings with senior Coalition military leadership and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister. All four governors traveled to the Middle East at the invitation of the United States Department of Defense.
