Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Franklin D. Roosevelt Warm Springs Memorial Advisory Committee

Henry Grady Harry, 78, Augusta, GA, Member -Harry is retired from the Credit Reporting Division of Equifax. He  is a member of  the  Augusta Kiwanis Club . He is  past president of the Augusta Retail Credit Association  and past president of the Associated Credit Bureaus of North Carolina . Harry is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Augusta . He graduated from the University of Georgia  and is a member of Kappa Alpha Order.  Harry and his wife, Sue, have three children. 

Phillip R. Rogers,  M.D.,  55, Pine Mountain, GA, Member -Rogers  is a private family practitioner and serves as an associate professor at the  Emory University School of Medicine . Rogers  is a member of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation , the DeKalb Medical Society, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians . He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and a doctoral degree from the University of Louisville  School of Medicine . 

Ollie Keller, 76, West Point, GA, Member -Keller is a former high school teacher, administrator, coach and athletic director. He enjoyed a collegiate coaching career at Memphis State University (now University of Memphis), Northeast Louisiana University, Iowa State University and Colorado State University. Keller previously served as the Assistant Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Conservation and as Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. He served in the United States Air Force and has been inducted into the Memphis State University Hall of Fame. He graduated with a bachelor 's degree and a master's degree in education from Memphis State University. Keller survives his wife and has four children and twelve grandchildren.

Board of Trustees of the Sheriffs Retirement Fund

Scott R. Berry,  46, Watkinsville, GA, Active Sheriff Member -Berry  is the sheriff of Oconee County. He is chairman of the Regional All Hazards Council, a member of the Moores Ford Committee, and a member of the board of directors of the Northeast Georgia Police Academy. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia. Berry and his wife, Tammye, have one child.    

Children and Youth Coordinating Council

Deborah A. Edwards, 53, Warner Robins, GA, Third Congressional District Representative REAPPOINTMENT -Edwards serves as a judge for the Juvenile Court of Houston County. She previously served as special assistant attorney general representing the Houston County Department of Family and Children Services,  a  partner at Talbot, Ladson, Rowe & Edwards, P.C. and an associate for Walter E. Harrinton, Jr. She  received  a bachelor's degree  in psychology from Mercer University,  a  master's  degree  in special education from Georgia State University and  a  juris doctor degree from the University of Georgia. Edwards and her husband, Stephen, have three children.

Thomas C. Gilliland, 57, Blairsville, GA, At Large Member REAPPOINTMENT -Gilliland  is executive vice president, secretary and general counsel for United Community Banks, Inc. Previously, he was a part n er with Hurt, Richardson, Garner, Todd & Cadenhead  law firm in Atlanta . He serves  as a member of the Regional Industrial Authority of Union, Towns, and Fannin counties, a member o f the board  of  associat es of  Young Harris College , and as a member of the board of directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He previously served on the Fannin County Civic Center Committee and the executive committee of the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce, and on the boards of the  Decatur-DeKalb Y.M.C.A, Truett McConnell College, the Fannin Regional Hospital and the Fannin County Arts Association. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a  juris doctor  degree from Emory University. Gilliland and his wife, Candace, have two children.  

Georgia Board of Athletic Trainers

Russell J. Hoff, 42, Valdosta, GA, Athletic Trainer Member - Hoff  is an assistant professor and the Director of Sports Medicine at Valdosta State University. He is a member of the Valdosta State University Departmental Merit Committee, a Program Evaluation Specialists for the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and a member of the Joint Review Committee for Athletic Training. He previously served as a member of the Capital University Undergraduate Faculty Sub-committees on Academic Affairs, a member of the Capital University College of Arts and Sciences Academic Programming Committe and as an education consultant for curriculum development of sports medicine/athletic training curriculum in secondary schools for the Georgia Department of Education. He is a previous recipient of the Georgia Athletic Trainer of the Year Award. He  graduated with a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a master's degree from West Virginia University. Hoff and his wife, Julie, have three children.  

K .  Scott Malone,  MD , 43, Warner Robins, GA, Physician Member -Malone  is a physician with the Houston Orthopedics Surgery and Sports Medicine Clinic and is affiliated with the Houston Healthcare Complex. He previously worked at Cornerstone Medical Associates, the Piedmont Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Complex and was affiliated with Macon Northside Hospital. Malone is a member of the American Society of Disability Evaluating Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, the American College of Occupational Environmental Medicine, the National Medical Association, the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehab, the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society  and  the American College of Sports Medicine.   Malone serves on the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency Board and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation Board.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Tennessee and a medical doctoral degree from James H. Quillen College of Medicine. Malone and his wife, Elaine, have two children.  

Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers & Marriage & Family Therapists

Tracy Lynn Hurst, 3 2, Smyrna, GA, Licensed Professional Counselor Member -Hurst serves as a  Christian counselor for AlphaCare Counseling Center.  She previously served as a Christian counselor for New Life Clinics,  a staff  member in ministry development for Hope Chapel,  a  project coordinator for Prime Time Singles of Mount Paran Church of God and  a  psychometrist for Oasis Counseling Center. Hurst is a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors  and  the American Association of Christian Counselors. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Asbury College and  a master's degree in  counseling psychology  from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. Hurst is married to Michael Wayne Hurst. 

Eugene T. "Gene" Schrader, 63,  Alpharetta, GA, Marriage and Family Therapist Member -Schrader  has worked in counseling for over 25 years, and is the founder and director of North Atlanta Counseling Service s. Schrader is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist  s and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He received his master's degree in counseling from Georgia State University and  is a graduate of the Psychological Studies Institute. Schrader and his wife, Eldeen, have three children.

State Board of Physical Therapy

Anthony F. "Andy" Ellis, 49, Tifton, GA, Physical Therapist Member REAPPOINTMENT -Ellis  is  founde r  and president of Rehabilitation Services of Coffee, Inc ., in Douglas. He previously served as founder and president of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy, Inc., founder and president of Rehabilitation Services of Tifton, Inc., director of physical therapy at Tift General Hospital  in Tifton,  and director of physical therapy of Dorminey Memorial Hospital  in Fitzgerald. Ellis is a member of  the  American Physical Therapy Association . He is a past  board member of the Georgia Physical Therapy Association, and past director of Region 1  of the  G  P TA. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Georgia State University. Ellis and his wife, Pam, have four children.
