Governor Perdue Announces Next "Saturday with Sonny"

Saturday with Sonny Program Expands to Include Radio Program

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue will hold his next “Saturday with Sonny” (SWS) on Saturday, March 19, 2005 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in Atlanta at the State Capitol. Citizens will have five minutes with the Governor to share their thoughts, discuss an issue, or ask a question.  For citizens who are not able to travel to the State Capitol for a meeting, the Governor is expanding the Saturday with Sonny program to answer constituent questions on the radio public affairs program, “Georgia Focus.”

To meet personally with Governor Perdue at the Capitol, citizens must reserve an appointment in advance by calling the Governor's Constituent Services Hotline at (404) 656-1776. 

Reservations will be accepted beginning Monday, March 14, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis.  Depending on availability, reservations will not be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005.  The five-minute meetings with Governor Perdue will not be open to media or registered lobbyists. 

Participants are asked to arrive at the State Capitol no earlier than 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19.  In order to meet with Governor Perdue, participants must have a scheduled appointment and identification. 

Citizens who would like to ask the Governor a question, but are not able to make a personal appointment for Saturday with Sonny on March 19, can call toll free (877)-425-9975, or email saturdaywithsonny@gov.state.ga.us , to submit a question.  Governor Perdue will answer as many questions as possible on the Georgia Focus radio program, scheduled to air on radio stations all over Georgia on Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27, 2005.

Georgia Focus, produced at flagship station WGST in Atlanta, airs on 58 radio stations across the state affiliated with the Georgia News Network (GNN).  For program broadcast times in your area, go to the GNN website at georgianewsnetwork.com .

The toll free SWS question line will be open to callers from March 14 through 18, and callers are asked to clearly state their full name, address, occupation and the question they would like the Governor to answer during his radio address.
