Statement of Governor on Meeting with Taoiseach of Ireland, Appointment of New Irish Consul General

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue released the following statement on today’s meeting with the Taoiseach of Ireland and the introduction of Paul Gleeson as the Consul General for the new Irish consulate located in Atlanta:

 

“Today’s visit by Taoiseach Brian Cowen is another great step in the already strong relationship between Georgia and Ireland. By locating a new consulate here in Atlanta, the Irish government is making a serious commitment to growing our commercial and cultural bonds. I am also proud to welcome Paul Gleeson as Consul General. He is joining a consular corps that works with Georgia every day to create economic opportunities between our state and their home countries.”
